I will be organised!!

So at the beginning of this year I decided enough was enough and I was going to be organised.  Those of you who know me well, know that procrastination and distractions are my daily fights. I am naturally a lazy   relaxed person with some of my favourite sayings being “that’ll do”, “I’ll do that tomorrow” and “Ooooo that seems more interesting than what I’m doing now”

I would often start cleaning and get distracted or just clean to a “ok” state. This is not a aspect of myself that I am very happy about and was always looking for ways to better myself but never really made much of an effort.

My husband is a naturally very clean and tidy person so his patience with me needs to be praised!!

I also would make lists of all things I wanted to do for work or for the house, and generally I would do a few things off the list but not many.

As I am growing in my relationship with the Lord, and being in full time ministry, I am realising that my laziness doesn’t just affect me but it affects everyone around me. This has been an eye opener and one of the main reasons why this year is a year of change for me… this year I will be organised!!

There are so many verses in Proverbs that talk about the benefits of being diligent and the failings of being lazy.

One of my favourite that I meditate on regularly is from Proverbs 12:24 it says… The diligent find freedom in their work;
the lazy are oppressed by work.

Who wants to be oppressed by their work? I want freedom, the freedom I am promised comes from being diligent and not wasting time but spending my time wisely…

So over this year I think this may be a bit of a theme for me, so it may pop up again in some more posts this year but here is some of the tools I have found and also chomp with myself to help get me started this year to being organised.

Late last year I came across another blog by the Timewarp wife, she has an awesome cleaning routine, a way to clean through your house every week. Click here to see it.

I also went a bit pinterest mad and on my Pinterest board “I will be organised” I have a whole board of organisation ideas. One of the main ideas was a good to do list that I would be motivated to work through. So I created my own. Here is a copy if you want to have a look, To do list by Kate Moala . If you want one that you can adapt for yourself just email me and I can send you another file.

I also created a simple weekly meal plan printable as well as a few other things that I am trialling and will let you know how they go.

So bless you guys and heres to a organised year with freedom whatever work you do

    This sounds great, Kate, but don’t let it take you away from being available to give time to people!! I find lists are helpful to set priorities, so that the important stuff gets done, but we both know that the Lord often overrules our lists and brings more important (in His sight) people and things for our days. Praying for you as you work through the balance of ministry, family and rest. 🙂

    Hey Kate – all the best with the planning and sticking at it! I know the feeling – I’m trying to keep on top of our new household cleaning system (I found the Timewarp Wife helpful too) and doing a big declutter before bub comes so that things will hopefully be a bit smoother in the early days. All the best!
