Parenting is such a gift and a blessing from God. We get to show our Heavenly Fathers love to these precious children that God has given to us, to lead them to Him.
Some days that is easier than others. Some days its hard. Some days its a breeze. Some days you go to bed thinking through everything you have done and self analysing how you could have done better. Some days you go to bed so content and happy with life. Some days we are selfish. Some days we have it all balanced.
Today I am choosing Joy! Joy even when baby had a hard and long night teething. Joy even though my older girls are going through a tough stage showing each other love. Joy!
“Rejoice in the Lord always, Again I will say Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praise worthy – meditate on these things.” Phillipians 4:4-8
We are told to rejoice – be joyful in all things, not just when things feel good, or not only when your children are behaving. Not only when baby sleeps through the night, and morning routine goes like the plan. Joy in ALL things!! I need to start looking at life through the eyes of Joy.
We are told to show everyone our gentleness…man that is one thing i need to learn, I am not always gentle in the way I deal with my children. Its so much easier though when you are looking through the eyes of Joy.
Pray through everything… this is a real personal verse for me, I am passionate about prayer. In all honestly though, I don’t always pray though the small things like I should. When I look through the eyes of Joy though, its easier to be thankful and prayerful through all circumstances.
In verse 8 it talks about what we should be meditating on, what we should have our thoughts focussed on. True things, noble things, just things, pure things, lovely things, good things, and praise worthy things… If we can do this then I believe we will be looking through the eyes of Joy. It will make being Joyful and Rejoicing in all things so much easier! God didn’t just say be happy – full stop. Joy is so much deeper than happiness. But what I love even more is that He gives us the way to Rejoice. He gives us the way to have Joy. Through being Gentle, through Prayer and Praise, through mediating on all that is true, lovely, pure, good and praise worthy.
I am choosing to look through the eyes of Joy today!! Choose it with me!!
